Meet The Team
Jimmy is the Lead Pastor of Roots NYC and is the Director of Calvary Chapel Bible College New York City. He is a CCBC graduate that spent seven years on the foreign mission field Directing a Calvary Chapel Affiliate campus in Spain. During his years spent in Europe he had the opportunity to speak at churches and conferences all over the globe. Before planting in New York City Jimmy also helped plant a church in Chicago, IL. His wife's name is Liz and they have two babies, Haven and Malachi.
The Lord called Pastor Claude into ministry in 1980. He is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1983-86). He pastored from 1986 to 1993 in the Church of the Nazarene where he also taught Bible College extension classes. In 1993 he joined the Calvary Chapel fellowship and planted Calvary Chapel of Hope where he remains the Senior Pastor.

Rich Ortiz became a believer at the age of fourteen reading the book of Romans that was sent to him from a family member who was incarcerated. He sensed the call to ministry early on and has served the Lord in different capacities over the last 25 years. He served as Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel of Agape for nine (9) years and also as a staff pastor at Calvary Chapel of San Antonio for two (2) years. Pastor Rich currently serves as a staff pastor at Roots NYC. He has been married to his beautiful wife Raquel for 28 years and they have three children. Pastor Rich has a passion for God's Word and considers it a great joy and privilege to share the truths of Scripture.
Jacob is a graduate of Calvary Chapel Bible College. He is the Dean of Men and runs the Men's Discipleship class at CCBC NYC. He also served as an intern in the Community Service and Dean of Men department at CCBC Murrieta in California. Jacob moved to New York City in April of 2017, and has been serving in a leadership role at Roots NYC. He has a passion for shepherding the flock of God, discipleship, and the teaching of God's word. He and his beautiful wife Danielle live walking distance to the campus.
Alec is a CCBC graduate who spent his life as a missionary kid growing up in Mexico. He is a gifted Photographer and Videographer with a desire to serve, specifically in New York City. God Burdened his heart for the City several years back on a mission trip where it became evident to him of its great need for a Savior. Alec is one of the regular teachers at CCBC NYC.
Adam Najar serves as the Associate/Teaching Pastor at Templo Victoria, a multi-campus church based out of Cathedral City, Ca., where he has been serving in full-time pastoral ministry for the past thirteen years. He additionally serves as adjunct professor at LABI College, Latin American Theological Seminary, and Calvary Chapel Bible College, where he teaches courses on Theology, Biblical Studies, Apologetics, Pastoral Leadership, and Discipleship. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Calvary Chapel Bible College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Faith International University, and a Master’s of Divinity Degree from Liberty University’s School of Divinity. Currently, he is pursuing a Th.M. in Christian Apologetics from Liberty University’s School of Divinity.
Richard graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe in 2015. He then completed the internship program and later served on staff in the coffee shop ministry. He is a Hungarian who has moved to New York City with a passion for discipleship. Richard loves to teach the word of God and fellowship over coffee. During his Bible College years Richard had the priviledge of visiting different churches in various countries such as China, Kosovo, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Solvenia, Cyprus, Greece, and Italy. His desire is to see more churches being planted all around the world.
Jay is the Senior Pastor at Cross Connection North Jersey in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. He was born and raised in Southern California where he served in various capacities of Christian ministry at Calvary Chapel Nexus and Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. He has a passion for shepherding the flock of God, expositional teaching of the Scriptures, and Discipleship. The Lord set Joey apart in his early years giving him a strong passion to lead people to Christ, to inspire others to wholeheartedly live out their faith, and to make disciple-making disciples. Over the years, Joey has served as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, evangelist, and lead pastor from the west coast at the original Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, CA to the east coast in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and then overseas in the UK where he became the founding pastor of Calvary Cambridge for over 10 years. He is a passionate Bible teacher and conference speaker equipping believers to be authentic followers of Christ with an evangelistic, disciple-making, and missions heart. Joey and his family returned to the US to do a fresh work in New Jersey, where he now resides with His wife Tiffany and three children: Madelyn, Josiah, and Jordan.
Danielle has her Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies from Cairn University. She has been serving at the Bible College here since the beginning and moved to Queens after getting married in 2018. Danielle has always had a deep desire to disciple young women and serves here at CCBC as Dean of Women and Administrator. She teaches Women's Discipleship and is passionate about seeing young women rooted and grounded in Jesus.
Born in Ecuador and moved to NYC at the age of five. Surrendered her life to the Lord in 2004 and has a heart to serve others and the church in any capacity. She served In Harvest Christian Fellowship later in Calvary Chapel of Agape before the Lord leading her to Roots NYC. At Roots she leads the children’s ministry. She loves children and desires to part of training and encouraging them to grow in their faith.
